Moving people (in the location sense).

Since I've owned a truck I've been asked to help a number of people move. Which is fine but it gets boring, so I find different ways to entertain myself. The first time someone asked me to help them move I told one of the guys that the doors on my truck don't work so we have to go through the windows. I explained to him that it's easier to get a running start then try and jump through the window because of how high off the ground. He did it every time he had to get into the truck. But the best part was he always opened the door to get out and never realized that I lied.

Something else I've always found funny is how when you're helping a girl move she says "be careful with that" every time you pick up a box, as if I was going to drop kick it into the truck or something. It's also funny how some people feel guilty when you have to pick up something heavy. Maybe next time I help someone move I'll see how long I can get away with only caring the small, light things. Because I'm the one there helping them, they're not going to yell at me for not picking up heavier objects. Than maybe after they've put all the heavy things into the moving truck I'll say something like "man, I am whipped. How about a lunch break?". But I've moved enough people by now that I don't think I could get away with that. But here are some helpfully tips to those who haven't moved someone before;
1.) wear loose non-athletic clothing: not because it's cool but because it will help hid you're actually body size some. You don't want people thinking "this person is big and, judging by their Under Armour, they probably like working out and would enjoy lifting this couch and taking down 8 flights of stares".
2
.) can you hold this over their heads: It's a good idea to help people when you know that someday you may need their help. The guilt trip is easier then peer pressure and cheaper
then bribing.
3.)
take part in every packing strategy conversation: this not only gives you a short break while other people are moving stuff but it also makes you look busy and some what in charge. Than you tell other people to to carry the heavy stuff to the truck while you "figure out" what should go next.
4.) complement the other people after they've seen you do something hard: for example; you just carried down a file cabinet by yourself while two other guys carried a light but long shelf. Saying something like "looks good guys" or "we done sirs" makes them feel like you're a nice guy whose just there to work hard and makes them aspire to work just as hard which gives you the chance to work less. But saying something like "Oh man, you guys are beasts" or "you guys sure you don't need a break after that 15 pound self", comes across as you being cocky and will only work against you.
5.) bend with your knees not your back: or if possible, someone else's knees.

Poit of this Blogg...

Every day I spend lots of time day dreaming cause I have a sucky job. But even though the ideas I come up with are border line genius, I don't have many people to tell them too. So with this blog I will be able to reach the masses and share with them what I think about all day. Not saying that I will post every day, but I will post early and often. Or maybe very rarely, I've never been good at telling the future.
